Entry #2. Television vs. The World (Wide Web)

Television vs. The World (Wide Web) The television is one of the most important inventions of the 20th century. I would argue its importance rivals that of the automobile and airplane. It allowed the instantaneous stream of news and entertainment. Sure the radio may have done that before the television, but the radio did not have the type of hook that television had. Television eventually became the standard for entertainment. If not for the car radio, television would have likely made the radio all but extinct. Few technologies have become as recognizable, widely used, or as inseparable as the cable television. However, this would only be the case until the 21st century. Radio had little chance of competing with the superior television In the early years of the 21st century, the modern internet was born. Like the television, the internet brought with it entertainment and news instantly. Unlike the television however, there was more than "passive media" (media th...

Entry #1. Blogs: Rusty Gears of the Internet

Blogs: Rusty Gears of the Internet Blogs have been around for a long time, there is no doubt about it. They have provided a voice to many who would otherwise be nobody. So long as someone has a computing device and an internet connection, they have the ability to reach millions of people all across the globe (not to say that is a certainty). Your favorite movies, your views on politics, your daily life, your funny outlook on things, all possible to share with others on the internet through these blogs. Writing is an important part of human existence, but its importance has definitely been on the decline. Sites like YouTube and Instagram show that people want the information that a blog can p...

Introduction - Who is this?

Who is this? Jenny and I at our high school prom Hello to you all. I am Adam, a 19 year old man born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I have always had some passion for writing, but have never done much to pursue that. In a way this blog will be an experiment of sorts to see if it is something that I will enjoy in the future. Unfortunately, I do not have much to offer the world. I consider myself an "average Joe". I have a menial part-time job, I go to community college, and not much excitement happens between all that. I spend most of my free time either playing video games, run around the backyard chasing my Siberian Huskies, or on dates with my amazing girlfriend of three years. I find that the prospect of some day settling down with a nice job to support a family with her is what drives me to better myself.  My sister and I at Disneyland My girlfriend Jenny (right) holding my puppy Raven (left)
